The Akamai Identity Cloud (AIC) service will undergo a maintenance release on 19 OCTOBER 2020 between 19:00-19:15 UTC.

Prior to entering into the 2020 winter holiday season, the Identity Cloud is required by AWS to perform several maintenance activities. While most of these activities are transparent and will not impact customers or end users, a database upgrade is required for each region and will require a small amount of downtime.

The DB upgrade will consist of a newer version of software, PostgreSQL, and a new virtual environment for the DB. The upgrade will require ~15 minutes of downtime for each region. During the upgrade window, the Identity Cloud services will be offline, end users will not be able to register or authenticate and instead will receive an error. However, all data will remain intact and end users will be able to login immediately following the upgrade.

Akamai plans to reduce the impact of each upgrade by performing them in the low traffic hours for each region.
